Queerdeckel
Design project for more diversity.
As a statement for an open, diverse and colourful city of Munich and on the occasion of Christopher Street Day, the so-called "Queerdeckel" (queer coasters) were designed by several organizations in 2020.
These are beer coasters in several designs, each printed with different Pride Flags.
The queer coasters were displayed in numerous bars and pubs and distributed on Christopher Street Day.
On the one hand, the aim is to make the rainbow flag visible in many places in Munich and thus to set a symbol for a tolerant society in the city. On the other hand, information should also be provided about subgroups of the Pride movement that are still little known. Therefore, in addition to the classic Pride Flag, each coaster has another specific flag of the LGBTQI+ community printed on it with its date of origin and quotes.
The Queer coasters feature the Bisexual Pride Flag, Lesbian Pride Flag, Intersex Pride Flag, Trans-QpoC Progress Pride Flag, Pansexual Pride Flag, and the Transgender Pride Flag.
The project was initiated by SSV-Munich, with financial support from the Munich Rainbow Foundation. The content expertise came from Muriel Aichberger.
My tasks were creative development, design, and production.
Due to the great demand, the queer covers have already been reprinted several times.
